Hello, I have problems installing the WP7 Isolated Explorer, the installer asks me to have previously installed the Net Framework 4 but actually yes I have it!. The installer does not detect the Net Framework. Note that I am trying to install it on a Windows 7 64-bit. I can do?

I had the same problem. Get it to run after installing the full .Net Framework, not only the client package. You can download it there: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=17718

I can see and download only files in root Isolated Sotrage folder. I see folders created by myself, but can see files that I wrote to it by code or using WP7 Isolated Storage Explorer GUI tools.

when i tried to run my app in wp7 emulator,it throws the exception:
There was no endpoint listening at http://192.168.0.110:2502/ApplicationSessionService/ApplicationSessionService.svc that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.i don't use any WCF service and just used Linq to Sql mapping to create the database and Stored it

I have followed the steps in the Documentation section. Everything is fine when i use the Emulator, but when i try to use a HTC PRO 7 or a Mozart 7 i get the following exception :

Also the 3rd step from below is not triggered
Installing the WP7 Isolated Storage Explorer

1) Download the latest build from the Downloads page
2) Run the installer
3) Click Yes or Allow if your firewall software prompts for a firewall rule (This will allow the WP7 Isolated Storage Explorer to communicate with remote applications)
4) The WP7 Isolated Storage Explorer can now be started from the Desktop (shortcut), the Programs Menu on Start or in Visual Studio (View->Other Windows->WP7 Isolated Storage Explorer)

Can you please post the manual windows firewall settings or do I have to enable something in Manifest file in my project ?

Whenever I upload a file from localhost to windows phone 7 emulator's isolated storage or the other way around, a number of NUL ('\0') characters get appended to the files. I have only verified this with XML formatted text files (.fnt, .xml).

I suspect that issues

are related to the same problem.

yes it is related to the buffer size. Buffer was set to 12KB and it seems all files are rounded to this number.

This may be related to issue "File size always remains same as 12288 bytes for small files"

Downloaded MP4 files are always larger than the original one, sometimes twice as large as the original one. For example, a file of 478856 bytes becomes one of 479232. Examining the contents of the files shows some data are appended to the original files.

the problem is related to the buffer size (set to 12KB I believe). The appended data are just white spaces.
This will normally screw up .XML files.

I found the error in the assembly code (thanks, dotPeek...):

you are searching for files using:

isoFile.GetFileNames(directory + "/")

but the "*" is missing , so it has to be:

isoFile.GetFileNames(directory + "/*")

The sames goes for directories !

I personally cannot get this tool to run with any personal apps on the Emu that require internet connections. As soon as my app attempts to make a connection, the IsolatedStorageExplorer causes my app to fail the connection and crash. To which the explorer then throws:

An unhandled exception of type 'System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1' occurred in System.ServiceModel.dll
Additional information: Invalid application session ID

And causes my app to close. This happens using the Visual Studio integration as well as the desktop client.

I am using:
Visual Studio 2010 Professional w/SP1
Windows Phone SDK 7.1
Windows Phone 7 Isolated Storage Explorer beta (latest download available)

This is all on a Windows 7 Ultimate machine (x86 and SP1).

Same here. I can only see the top level folder.
This is what I tried doing:
Create a file "Settings.xml"
Create a Folder "Temp"
Create a folder under "Temp" - "Temp/Temp1"
Create a file under "Temp1" - "Temp/Temp1/Temp2.txt"

I am only able to see "Settings.xml" and "Temp". Although Temp2.txt and Temp1 exist (checking it using ISF.FileExist()), it not displayed by the IS Explorer.
This is an essential feature, any help will with regards to the timeline for a fix will be appreciated.

Same here, only see dirs without files, and i know for sure files are there i check via code.

Even though I do not use a web proxy and have no firewall enabled (windows or otherwise), I get an exception indicating it can not connect to the server.

The Explorer is running (externally from VS2010) and netstat shows the port is open and listening correctly.

I struggled with this for a while. It worked beautifully for one of my projects, but crashed with the above error for another. I found out what it was. I needed to add <Capability Name="ID_CAP_NETWORKING" /> back into the WMAppManifest.xml of the project. I had removed all capabilities not used by the app when I shipped it the last time. So, I just need to remember to remove this, and IsoatedStorageExplorer.dll before I ship again :-)

It appears that anytime the debugger hits a breakpoint or has any intensive computing to do, the IsolatedStorage Explorer crashes saying the application ID is invalid. It also crashes with the application ID issue whenever a new file is created on the storage and it attempts to refresh the list.

Ignoring the exception sometimes causes it to continue working, other times it causes debugging to forcefully stop.

At this time, this tool seems to be too buggy to rely on. :(
